Almost all 4e1 guys were gathered in the common place, edwin house. we have edwin, dom, zr, jf, randy, tp, boo and even kk.also we have a special guest, weiming. we played poker, lost money, drank wine, play stupid games, and also eat dinner. even had supper with some. this is how we spent chinese new year 2007, this was how we spent Chinese new year 2006, and hopefully this is how we spent Chinese new year 2008, 2009, 2010..........

lol been two years since the last post and selly didnt delete. well let me post one stupid stuff cos i am freaking bored at home. well wonder where everyone is and doing. hopefully still gt ppl come to this blog and read and still blogging. well now i am serving NS duh. enlisted on the 080606 and ord on the 070608. which is still a long way to go. currently coporal rank and is doing RP is sispec guardroom. everyday just do guard duty which is to stand for two hours and rest four hours. most of the time i will be sleeping and now i feel i am fat. well if anyone is reading this do blog in to say who and where are u and the friends u are in contact with. hopefully can organise a major gathering this year which maybe impossible cos i think everyone are busy with their 21 bday. u noe the big 21.well mine is still a long way to go. and damn u randy cos i only just turn 20.

I have tried applying for university in US. and for choosing the uni, you have to decide what course are you studying cos each uni has its own strength. It's best that you don't choose those uni with too many rich kids. hehe

i was looking thru my secondary report book and results yesterday cus i am applying to another uni soon,and soo i need to send my results all over again...

sooo i was reading thru my report book...looking at my grades and theni came across the pink card with a typed out passage on it.....It was from MS Fong...she tpyed out a little story thing and then told us that she is really helpless and disappointed with us...

Remember???? now that i am thinking about it...i feel soo bad lor..HAHAHA.....i miss 4e1 soo bad....miss all the fun we had and all the trouble we got into..hahahaha

Good bye, Mr Wee Kim Wee!

I have never heard his name till a few days ago. Yet, I am so deeply touched by his grand daughter's eulogy, which made SM Lee Kuan Yew cried in public:

Mr Wee believed that to understand the present, we have to plan for the future, but we must not forget the past.

He loved her[Mrs Wee] so much he kept a special list of her favourite songs, lovingly typewritten and kept safely in a folder, "ready to be whipped out at any time".
Husbands and boyfriends [I added myself] who are here today, do you have a list of you wife's [and girlfriend's] top 10 favourite songs in a special folder?
It was a theoritical question.
That's a lesson you can take from my grand father.
A lesson in love.
A lesson rammed home most poignantly, as even the most stout-hearted sobbed audibly at the sight of the grieving Mrs Wee.

Before starting on his dinner, he would always ask: Has the dogs eaten yet?

Smiles all around. What a man. What love.

I shed a tear or two while reading an article written for Mrs Wee on Newpaper:

THE new year will start with a new beginning for copyright enforcement in Singapore. With the amended Copyright Act, companies that infringe on copyrights will be liable for criminal prosecution, stiffer penalties and possible jail terms.

A global study commissioned by the BSA (Business Software Alliance) in July pegged Singapore's software piracy rate at 43 per cent. This compares to 92 per cent in China and 22 per cent in the US. BSA says that a 10-point drop in Singapore's piracy rate could add US$1.3 billion to its economy, create 1,800 well-paying jobs, and boost tax revenues by more than US$1 billion.

To encourage local companies to go for legitimate software, the IPOS (Intellectual Property Office of Singapore), the IP Taskforce and the BSA have embarked on various initiatives to help prepare companies here for the coming changes. The SLA (Software Licensing Programme) is one of these. The SLA has prodded Adobe, Autodesk, Macromedia, Microsoft and Symantec to offer discounts of 25-40 per cent on their software to help local companies opt for the real thing. Another initiative was organising free software asset management seminars to educate local companies on taking stock of software being used on their systems to ensure none is illegitimate.

Are these initiatives good enough? What other issues need to be addressed? BizIT organised a panel discussion to thrash these out. Here are key excerpts:

Kenneth James: Let's get the legal perspective first, from Lau Kok Keng.

Lau Kok Keng: From Jan 1, 2005, it will be a criminal act for anyone who infringes copyright in a willful manner. These will fall under four elements:

If what he does already infringes the Copyright Act, it would expose him to civil liabilities.

The copying must be willful. That means unintentional acts of infringement and occasional slip-ups will excuse him from criminal liability.

The copying must be significant.

If it is not significant, he must have derived commercial advantage from it.
Significant infringements would cover elements such as the volume involved, the value, and whether the infringement has a substantial effect on the copyright owners. By drafting the legislation this way, latitude has been given to the courts.

this pic was taken during christmas eve i was the one taking photo.... we were watching kung fu hustle before that and then we decided to countdown though it was quite chaotic as we sueeze thru orchard......

this pic was taken during christmas itself.....we went to bishan cos that day tingping book out and we all long to see him especially his bald head.... so we met up..... we got one uncle who looks like a beng to take photo for us...haha... and we took the pic at a good position.....(look at the sign behind us)....haha crap

next two photo we took during new year eve where again we had our countdown in orchard.... before that got tingping and jf and we were watching MEET tHE fockers... but both left after the movie cos tp was sick and jf wanted to play with his new hp.... then kaih wee join us and weipin was the one taking photo for us n it is obvious why weipin was there and it was taken outside borders..........

......and we decided to hav some pose........

Singapore to jail and fine software pirates

From next year Singapore will be introducing new jail terms and fines for people that break internet copyright laws or software laws. People who are found guilty of illegally using software or downloading software from the internety will face a jail sentence of 6 months and a fine of 20,000 Singapore dollars ($15,395 Australian dollars / $11,307 US) for their first offence. Repeated offenders face three years in jail and another fine of 50,000 Singapore dollars.
The law seems to be centred on people that use software illegally for a commercial advantage or those that significantly infringe copyright laws.

The law doesnâ€™t seem to say anything about targeting individuals that downloadd some music for personal use. A spokesperson for the Singaporean Intellectual Property Office said that courts would have to decide what significant copyright infringment was and what wasnâ€™t. A person that downloads 1 movie or 1 song would unlikely to be targeted but a person that downloaded 1000 would seriously be pushing it.

The Singapore parliament will ratify this updated law by the middle of next month with the new laws taking effect by 1st January 2005. Previously those that were infringing copyright by downloading music were only subject to a civil case such as a lawsuit. The new laws brought into
Singapore are thanks to a new free trade agreement Singapore signed with the United States.

A spokeswoman for the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore said the courts would be left to interpret the definition of "significant".Although the spokeswoman stressed the courts would set the precedent, she said people who downloaded one song or movie were unlikely to be prosecuted but "1000 could be pushing it".

She said parliament was likely to pass the ammendents by the middle of the next month, with the new laws due to take effect from January 1 next year.The tougher laws are part of Singapore's commitments to its free trade agreement signed with the United States that came into effect this year.

Previously people who breached software and internet copyright laws in Singapore were only subject to civil action.Tougher penalties for the illegal manufacturing, sale and distribution of software remain unaffacted by the new laws.

this morning finish our 4e1 3days 2nite chalet...haha and now in the middle of a boring lesson..... did everyone had fun during the chalet?? though there was some conflict but hope all are resolved din expect to hav much participation from the guys.... first day got Randy edwin dom zr eric and wendy... had some pillow fight with dom and zr... and stupid fags took the photo..... second day got nash selly jf and even ming seng and kai kiat came....and at nite even tingping came after he book out from NS at 630pm..... and came to stay for the nite.... almost full attendance from the guys great that everyyear we can still gather and hav fun and enjoy hope that in the future we will hav the same opportunities!!
